Kiwi!

Kiwi!

The short film that I have seen was entitled Kiwi!. The flick was about a kiwi bird who really wanted to fly but could not do it because all kiwi birds are flightless ones. Yet despite this, he found a way to fly because of his determination and creativeness. He climbed a really tall tree and started to bring up smaller ones on its side and nailed them to it, thus creating a fake forest. After completing this daunting task he then put on his pilot's helmet and jumped. As he was falling it looked like he was flying because of the forest that he nailed on the side of the giant tree. And for the first time in his life he was able to experience something that no other kiwi would ever experience, the ability to fly. Because of the overwhelming joy he was experiencing, he was able to cry a bit and then plunged into the abyss.

This short film was created by Doni Permedi for his Master's Thesis Animation. And because this animation was so popular it was able to win the "Best CG" award at the Channel Federator Awards. He created this using Maya and After Effects. The animation was very good because it didn't have any errors in the 3D creation of the model and that the flow of the film was flawless. The camera angles and the shots were excellent and the time in which he moved in for an extreme close up to see the tear from the kiwi was great.
